I also got up to view this (also in Santa Clara). I didn't really expect clear skies based on the forecast, so I just got up for the "total" phase, approximately 6-7 AM. There was some nice atmospheric "squishing" of the Moon as it got close the horizon near sunrise. Then I went back to bed! Beautiful photo of the eclipse.
