Water Lilies at Dusk

Oksana was fascinated with water lilies ever since she first saw them as a little child. These flowers amazed her with their ability to float just above the water. These lilies are associated with mermaids and merworld in Oksana’s mind. She has been painting them in different settings and light throughout her life, and Oksana is not planning to stop in the near future.

This acrylic en plein air painting depicts a pond full of water lilies at dusk. It is an amazing hour, since the rising sun makes the sky and water shine with unbelievable colors. The painting is very smooth with hardly any texture, but very colorful. The sky shines with warm tones, and the water reflects every bit of the sky in an endless pattern. The painting is done in yellow and green tones with glimpses of reds and blues. The lilies shine like white stars above the pond and add contrast to the overall composition. It is a fairly large painting and would look great in dining or living area.

Field of Poppies

This landscape painting was inspired by the yellowish light and fresh smell of air after the thunderstorm. The bright colors of flowers and grass pop off the canvas, but the sky is still covered by the stormy palette. The painting is well textured, and this also helps the grass to pop and look more real. Long strains of paint sprout out of the canvas in a similar way to the Field of Cornflowers painting. Here the artist tried to channel an amazing weather phenomena when the rain and thunder just stopped, but there will be more as the storm is not over yet.

Haze over Fields

Haze over Fields was inspired by artist’s childhood memories of long car trips and endless fields seen through the window. The flow of the painting moves in two different directions. One is moving away from the viewer, leading the eyes to the center of the painting. Another one moves toward the viewer through the fields and creates a clash of lines right in the middle. The chaotic sky can be seen as a product of this clash in the fields. There is a notion of calm and chaos in this piece, but the chaos is in the sky this time. The dramatic clouds and stormy, yet gentle, colors are the proof. This original acrylic painting is 10” by 8” in size and quite smooth with very little texture. All strokes are flat, and the drama is represented by colors. Haze over Fields is an attempt to show the drama of what most people would consider plain and boring.

Field of Cornflowers

Field of Cornflowers was inspired by a patch of violet and blue boutonniere flowers in the middle of the city. This original acrylic painting is 8” by 10” in size with a heavy texture. The texture represents the layers of grass and stems which create textures in the nature. The flow of this piece also imitates the movement of the grass in the wind: a slight wave in one direction, then in another. The artist chose to incorporate warm yellow tones along with fresh spring greens to add the feeling of summer and warmth. Blue flowers with a hint of violet and white pop out of the painting and add coolness to the summer warmth of yellows and greens.
This impressionistic landscape painting would make a great gift for those who love prairie flowers and cornflowers in particular.

Winterscape

This miniature landscape painting was inspired by memories of frosty days and mesmerizing snow. The sound of crunching snow underneath one’s feet, the enchanting glow of the snowflakes in the sunset rays, the stillness of the sleeping river bound by ice. One of four wonders of nature is captured in this acrylic painting, the winter. This winterscape is done in both cold and warm tones to represent the feelings of the people who are in a warm, snowless place during the Christmas season. So, let it snow!
