Exploring the Versatility of Digital Media

Welcome to the digital side of my studio! While you might know me for getting my hands messy with charcoal dust or acrylic paint, this page is dedicated entirely to Oksana’s digital art. I have been spending a lot of time lately reconnecting with traditional media like pastels and paint, but I will always have a soft spot for the digital world. There is something incredibly freeing about digital media. The versatility is unmatched. I love being able to switch brushes, textures, and unlimited color palettes with just a click. It allows me to take risks that I might hesitate to take on a physical canvas where mistakes are harder to fix.

Tools of the Trade: Photoshop and Procreate

When I sit down for a serious session of creating digital art, my go-to setup is usually Adobe Photoshop paired with my trusty Wacom tablet. That combination gives me the precision and power I need for detailed illustrations and complex compositions. It feels like a natural extension of my arm at this point.

However, inspiration often strikes when I am away from my desk. For those moments, or just for quick sketches to capture an idea before it floats away, I love using the Procreate app on my iPad. It is intuitive and lets me keep creating wherever I am.

Please enjoy browsing through this collection. It is a different flavor from my traditional work, but it comes from the same creative heart.

Garden of Eve – Digital Painting

Occasionally, I like to do quick digital painting studies from some fashion magazines or clothes catalogs. Here is one of such studies. I used a figure in the red dress from the catalog as a reference and added a fantasy element to create a completely different scene. I used my old and trusted Wacom tablet

    Underwater Friends – Digital Drawing

Recently, I tried streaming my digital drawing process. The most positive effect that came from it was the ability to follow a schedule. It’s surprising how many distractions are there that keep me from actually drawing or painting. However, if I commit to a streaming schedule, I’m more likely to draw that day! I think

Digital in Reality – Life Drawing Sessions

For the longest time, I wanted to make a post about this whole situation with quarantine due to COVID-19. I’ve started writing multiple times, and every time it would just turn into whining and ranting. Instead, I’ll keep those thoughts to myself, and try to stay positive at least in this web space. Therefore, I
