Here's one of the first oil painting I attempted. It's a simple still life of some glass objects and sea conch. I'm surprised it turned out alright as I had no idea what I am doing. However, the mystery of translucent objects has evaded my hand in this painting. I hope to attempt this some … Continue reading Glass with a Sea Conch Still Life Painting

Apple, pear on the floor.. who's the pretties of them all? I have worked on a number of still life paintings, and especially apple and pear paintings lately, and I started to get bored of plain backgrounds. That's when I had a thought of mentally transporting some of the still life setups into the outdoor … Continue reading Fruity Road Block, apple & pear painting
I continue to experiment with small still life setups, like this pear painting. However, this time I chose two subjects. The apple and pear are the best of friends, especially in a pie! Anyway, let's stay on topic here! I tried to make the apple to be the focal point of this painting. The pear … Continue reading Apple and Pear on the Table, oil painting
Sometimes, I just draw what's in front of me, like this tea bag. However, quite often it turns out to be this ornate candy vase. I tried to capture its form, but symmetry didn't quite work out. Still, I think the general shape is quite clear, and the candy suggests its nature.
Ever since I got a small garden, I can actually pick flowers and put them in a vase every now and then. I try to use every opportunity I get to paint them, and these mums were perfect for the task. I always loved flowers, but painting them could be quite a tedious process. In … Continue reading Bouquet of Mums in a Vase, oil painting
This is indeed The Pear for me, since it's the first pear I tried to paint with oil paint. I love the way it turned out, and it might even be my favorite painting of the year. It's hard to show the beauty of oil paint with just a photograph, but depending on the lighting, … Continue reading The Pear, oil painting
I have recently started exploring oil paint as a medium, and I fell in love with it immediately. The translucency and vividness of colors impressed me so much, that I wanted to throw color everywhere! This gave me an idea to start a series "Drunk with Color." I started my journey with small still life … Continue reading Lemon on the Checkered Tablecloth, oil painting
I love wildflowers, and when I came to Texas and saw fields of bluebonnets, cornflowers, and other beautiful flowers, I fell in love with spring! Now that I have a small garden, I planted a few cornflowers. The beauty of wildflowers is that they keep coming back year after year. I wish people would stop … Continue reading Texan Cornflowers, gouache painting
When I just started painting these watercolor studies, my goal was to get as realistic, but graphical as I can. I think with this pear I nearly reached this goal. I really enjoy how lively this single pear painting turned out, it seems as if one can really see the volume! Available for sale! 8.5 … Continue reading Single Pear, watercolor painting
Raspberries are tiny, but complex little creations. Originally, I planned to paint several more, but I decided to simplify the task at hand and ate some 😀 They were very tasty, and I feel like I'm not going to paint any more of them 🙂 While this small watercolor is just a sketch, I do … Continue reading Three Raspberries, watercolor painting
