Flying Week – New Challenge

Lately, I really started to notice the inevitable disappearance of time. Weeks and even months evaporate into nothing whenever I just keep on going without pausing to reflect. I'd like to start a new challenge for myself, and make a small summation of achievements for the week. Let's stretch that time! Last week, I finally … Continue reading Flying Week – New Challenge

.043 Candy vase, pen drawing on paper

Sometimes, I just draw what's in front of me, like this tea bag. However, quite often it turns out to be this ornate candy vase. I tried to capture its form, but symmetry didn't quite work out. Still, I think the general shape is quite clear, and the candy suggests its nature.

.029 I am all ears

Sometimes, a cup is more than it seems. Sometimes, it has ears.

.028 Conrad Centennial Table Arrangement

I always enjoy drawing table arrangements at hotels and restaurants. This is a tiny vase with fresh flowers that I observed at Conrad Centennial Singapore hotel. .028 Conrad Centennial Table Arrangement

.027 Bird Cage

This is another attempt at a bird cage. I tried to give it a different angle and work on the structure, but I'm still unhappy with it. I'll leave it for some other time, perhaps when I had some time to deliberate 🙂

.026 Bird Cage

Well, my daily challenge didn't really go to schedule. At first, I had no means or energy to post, and then I fell behind and stopped drawing completely. I'd find this sketchbook and sketch occasionally, but it wasn't regular. However, I don't plan on stopping completely, taking a break every now and then is fine! … Continue reading .026 Bird Cage

.023 A Missing Light Bulb

This is a pretty cool chandelier at the Village Burger Bar. It took me about 10 minutes to sketch it out, then I added some darker background with pastels at home. I've noticed that a lot of my drawings in this sketchbook are slanted the same way, and I've finally realized why. The sketchbook is … Continue reading .023 A Missing Light Bulb

.021 Time is Running Out

Here's an interesting wall clock. I guess tiny format is not the best way to depict detailed objects. I also wish I included some other objects that would indicate the wall itself. Anyway, this was a fun doodle and practice piece.

.020 Flowers and Feathers

A part of this challenge is to make an educated decision of what to include in the drawing. I used to try to include as much of reality in a drawing as I can. However, studying with Michael Mentler has taught me that artist has the power to include and exclude elements of an artwork … Continue reading .020 Flowers and Feathers
