Pentaptych

I enjoy the concept of fragmented art. There’s something extraordinary in the possibility to move the artwork around, bring it together or separate it. This is the idea behind my new art series that consist of five connected paintings, a pentaptych. While each painting can be viewed separately, there’s a connecting flow throughout them. So…

Opinion: Using AI

AI is probably the most controversial subject right now, and I’m not going to get into the ethics of it. This has been discussed probably more than anything else lately. Instead, I just wanted to point out how AI works and what one ends up with. In this case, I’m talking about LLMs — text…

Preparing for the Freeze in Texas

A lot of different opinions circulate around about the upcoming weather in the south. I decided to make a post about how I’m preparing for the freeze in Texas and what it means to me. Since this is a personal blog, I will post more about my life. If you’re interested only in my art…

Oksana Ossipov, portrait

Hello, and thank you for visiting my website! My name is Oksana Ossipov, and I’m a visual artist and photographer. I currently reside in the area of Dallas, Texas. My formal education includes a BFA in Digital Media Art from San Jose State University. After moving to Texas, I started to focus on my fine art skills and figurative art in particular. I studied for 5 years under Michael Mentler at the Society of Figurative Arts. Through my life, I’ve also acquired a multitude of skills that include web development, sculpting, photography, art studio and business management, and baking awesome blueberry scones!

I’ve been trying to fully devote myself to the art over the past few years. I’m trying to learn and practice as much as I can. However, the workshop, class, and art supply costs present a certain financial challenge. If you like my work and want to support me, I would truly appreciate it! I have a shop full of artworks and creations, but even just sharing my art or social media pages would help a lot. Thank you so much!

Coates Willow Charcoal Review

There are different kinds of charcoal out there, but I will review Coates Willow Charcoal today. It comes in different stick sizes, I use 3-12 mm short sticks, because it’s what my local art store carries. I prefer to buy it in person, because this charcoal is rather soft and damages easily in shipping. It’s…

How to Spot a Scam as a Marketplace Seller

Recently, I received a message via Michael’s Makerplace platform saying that I allegedly made a sale. If you’re not familiar with this platform, it is a marketplace for handmade creators similar to Etsy. I made a post about it when it opened, so you may read it here. The message turned out to be a…

ArtResin Review – Jewelry Making

Resin is both a new and an old material. It has been with us for years, but it became popular only recently. Eventually, I packed up some courage and decided to try resin myself. As per usual, I did extensive research to find the best of the best as it’s always a part of the…

Two Standing Figures Gesture Drawing

This two standing figures gesture drawing took about 20 minutes total. I drew each figure in about half that, and that’s the goal of gestures. The idea is to get a dynamic and lively figure on the page in under 10 minutes. I used soft charcoal on newsprint paper, but different materials actually can be…

Energetic Gesture Drawing

This energetic gesture drawing is very loose. The torso is defined the most, but the limbs are loosely indicated. Yet, it has the flow and energy of a dance or spinning. I really like this gesture, and these are the drawings I’m after at the life drawing sessions. The poses usually depend on the model,…

Discord Gesture

These two poses look like a discord gesture. Something along the lines of “Fine. Fine!’ has transpired here and now they’re walking away in different directions. Who’s going to say “sorry” first? That’s what imagination is for! ;D Each pose in this drawing took about 7 minutes. I like the flow of lights and shadows…
