Plumeria – Botanical Copic Drawing
When I visited Sydney, Australia for the first time, I was mesmerized with plumeria flowers and decided to make a drawing of them. I never saw this tree bloom before, and its leaves looked familiar. Apparently, it’s just a look-a-like, but a completely different tree. It’s interesting how completely different things might look similar in

Pears Copic Drawings
There was a time, when I never held a Copic in my hands. Thankfully, this was promptly changed by a wonderful gift from my hubby. The pear drawings presented here are my very first experiments with this wonderful medium. I immediately fell in love, and wanted to get more colors. It took me a while

.043 Candy vase, pen drawing on paper
Sometimes, I just draw what’s in front of me, like this tea bag. However, quite often it turns out to be this ornate candy vase. I tried to capture its form, but symmetry didn’t quite work out. Still, I think the general shape is quite clear, and the candy suggests its nature.

.041 Girl with a Heart, pen drawing
Here’s another quick portrait of a girl. Sometimes I carry several pens, and this time I decided to use bright blue to accent some parts of the drawing. The main part is the heart that this girl is wearing on her neck. The proportions are somewhat off on the torso, and I wish I’d made…

.040 View from Hilton Sydney Hotel
Whenever I travel, I try to make some memories in the form of sketches. This is a view from Hilton Sydney hotel’s lounge on the 36th floor. The hotel is built in the city center. It has a view of beautiful historic buildings and a cool new tram. It was built in the last two…

.037 Lunar New Year at Galleria Dallas
Galleria Dallas is a great shopping mall that has these spectacular installations for seasonal holidays. I drew this during Lunar New Year when they had a multitude of beautiful red lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The vantage point is from the Little Katana sushi place, a cafe with a beautiful view of the skating rink.

.036 North Italia House Plants, interior drawing
Here’s another interior drawing from the North Italia restaurant. I used to be a frequent visitor before the quarantine, so I have several sketches from there. This time I focused on the interior and charming house plants on the wall. There were beautiful antique mirrors with shelves and a bunch of potted plants. I’m always

.035 North Italia Lamp, pen drawing
Here’s another throwback to the times before quarantine. It’s funny, how no one even really knew what quarantine is or how it’s spelled before 2020 hit. I can’t believe I have spent nearly half a year without going anywhere. I even haven’t left the house in months, thank goodness for backyard or I’d develop a

.033 Abrupt Tree, pen drawing
I got into a habit of drawing whenever I’m waiting for something or someone. It might seem that in such situation there’s nothing to draw, but it’s best to always look twice, there’s always something. This tree trunk was kind of interesting, and I didn’t get a chance to finish it at the time of

.031 Table arrangement
Throwback to the times when it was okay to go to a restaurant. This was around Christmas time, so the tables were decorated with evergreens and cranberries. Those were the good times.

Reclining figure, charcoal drawing
This piece took me about 30 minutes, and I wish I had done it on a better paper. I used rough newsprint, and it’s not the best paper for longer poses. Still, I’m fairly satisfied with the results, especially considering that I didn’t get the best vantage point for this pose.
